MADISON COUNTY, Ga. – On Jan. 25, 2024, at approximately 8:40pm, Madison County Deputies responded to the Bread Basket in Colbert reference a report of two people who had been shot at a separate location.
The caller was determined to be one of the victims and had pulled into the store to await assistance.
Upon arrival, Deputies found a 47 year old female and her 21 year old son at their vehicle and both were suffering from gunshot wounds.
It was determined the incident had occurred at an address on Fennell Lane which is approximately two miles from the store.
The female victim was able to identify the offender as her ex-boyfriend who did not live with her.
Both victims were transported to Piedmont ARMC for emergency care.
Deputies responded to the location of the incident and found evidence but the offender was not initially located.
During the investigation a short time later a vehicle matching the offender’s was located on Linda Street.
The vehicle was parked in the same neighborhood in front of a new house under construction.
The offender, a 54 year old male, was located in the vehicle deceased from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.
At this time, the conditions of the victims are not known but the injuries were life threatening.
